Squid’s and 411 West are the two remaining restaurants of a trio that helped establish and create the Chapel Hill dining scene . The other member of the consortium was Spanky’s, which in its last few years morphed into the wonderful southern kitchen Lula’s.

I will admit that I discovered’ Squid’s only after moving into Sunstone on East Franklin Street, but the number of times I and my friends went to Spanky’s and 411 were all but innumerable.
